New iMac will be around the corner

Luckily, there is at least one analyst who thinks that Apple would soon have a new Apple iMac in the market but they are still thinking over whether to design it in two or four cores. Shaw Wu who is among the Kaufman Brothers has put out a research note much recently which says that his latest run through the supply chain of Apple’s vendors likely indicated that the new iMac would be soon out sometimes during March or at most in the month of June. It has been a while since Apple had tweaked the iMac in any considerable manner which dates back to September 2007.

This time some of the changes around would mostly be under the hood. This is because Shaw Wu believes that Apple is now debating whether they should use the dual core processor of Intel or some contemporary quad core processors in their new iMac system line. The predicament is performance against the power consumption, while there are also concerns that if the quad core chips are used in the new iMac might even steal business from their Mac Pro which is currently the only computer system in the Apple computer system lineup which uses quad core processors.

However with any event, Shaw Wu truly believes that Apple would also redesign the way the iMac dispels heat as this can let the system to put much lower power on the chips during this year while they would also give it sufficient headroom so that they make speed bumps in the near future while also not having to redesign the entire system all over again.

The sale of desktops which is a sore point in the other wise outstanding first fiscal quarter of Apple has actually declined nearly 25 percent when compared with the same time a year before. The desktop sales have actually been down for almost all the vendors, but when calculated by the IDC, the overall desktop business had declined just about 16 percent during the past quarter. Apart from this Shaw Wu also believe that Apple would also be waiting to time the launching of their new iMac line up along with their launch of Mac OS called as Snow Leopard operating system and this is predictable to be shipped somewhere around June. The Snow Leopard operating system is likely to improve and develop the way Mac OS X manages the multi core processing and the graphics processing.

The new iMac from Apple is built from glass and aluminum and this all in one desktop comes complete with an impressive slimmer redesign which is available in two sizes, 24 inch and 20 inch. There is also the unusual compliment of ports like Firewire 400/800, USB 2.0, iSight camera, a slot loading SuperDriver and so forth. Its new look features a sleek display to match most of the consumer line up of Apple and a new keyboard and also a mini wire free model.
